Why are ukulele songs always so catchy? Reblogging this because this is awesome.

Hey, can you do requests too? Maybe? Someday? XD This makes me want a ukulele acoustic version of Hey, Soul Sister by Train, with lyrics changed to be astronomy themed and call it Hey, Solar System (which is something that stuck in my head from when I first misheard the title of the song, lol).

Speaking of The Lord of the Rings soundtrack. There's a song from Ghost in the Shell: SAC that always reminds me of LotR.

Mordred by John Eric Holmes

I originally picked this up for the lulz, on the off chance that it would actually have anything to do with Arthurian legend. It also seemed like a good chance to become familiar with the original Buck Rogers character/universe since I only know of it through the Loony Tunes parody LOL.

My thoughts and predictions for the book so far:
  • When I first picked up the book I thought that Mordred would be the name of a planet or moon. Or maybe a spaceship.
  • Page 38 introduced the leader of the alien attacks is Prince Mordred. I predict that this is Roger's son with that hot alien chick he had a fling with 40 years ago... (it was only at this point that I noticed the scantly clad woman in red on the bottom right of the cover)
  • I think the guy on the cover is supposed to be Rogers (who's looking pretty good for 83 years old, plus 500 years in suspended animation).
  • That dude in black trying to emulate Darth Vader I'm guessing is Prince Mordred since the aliens shave their heads.
  • Page 51-52, we have the first King Arthur reference, comparing Roger's cryogenic sleep to Arthur as the Once and Future King. Actually the whole thing is more like Futurama, except that Fry isn't a war hero.
  • The title font is shiny metallic gold. Not to be read in the car for fear of temporarily blinding drivers while turning pages.
  • It's science fiction, but unlike good sci-fi that lets you suspend belief, the science in here is actually just half-assed based on some energy theories going around in the 70s.
  • Cultural and gender stereotypes abound like woah. Not necessarily a feel-good read for the feminist-inclined. I'm guessing some of it is residual from the original 1928 story - this is a sequel written in 1979. I'd like to go back and read the original Buck Rogers story sometime and compare.
  • I'm already wishing for a fast forward button on this story.

IS IT SEPTEMBER YET???

Scott and Keith just like messing with our heads...
This was a nice April Fools though. :D

LOL at Alek's "yar!" expression (I guess he's a pirate prince now :P ) and the two middies flying through the air.

Deryn looks like she has no idea what she's doing there... is she getting married? is she presenting Lillit in place of her parents? Is this even a wedding at all? (more like an assassination) I wonder what the real context is... maybe that's her brother at the altar and Deryn is the one in the clanker (in Alek's outfit) screaming "Barking Spiders!" lololololololol

I forgot to grab something for breakfast this morning and now I really want a bagel (also known as "Begle" in the jpop world).

WHY ARE MY LITTLE PONIES SO AWESOME? I mean the new show, Friendship is Magic, created by none other than Lauren Faust (who I was derping over last month with her Galaxy Girls dolls) who also designed The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

I CAN'T STOP WATCHING!

Hey [info]limegummi, you really need to watch more than the opening if you haven't already. :D

And not just that designs are awesome. It also crosses over with other fandoms really easily. Somehow.

This one was my favorite b/c it's referencing back to PPG. And this. And who can forget Dr. Whooves? LOL

I dare you to do a search on dA. Or visit /co/ (which I haven't yet).

I usually don't know if it's the fandom I love or the show itself... In this case probably the both.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot the webcomics side: Shortpacked strip: Friendship is Magic

And Sailor Moon:

First up, author T.A. Barron!

Man, I'd been looking forward to this book signing for almost two straight weeks! He's on tour for his last book about Merlin - Merlin's Dragon: Ultimate Magic. I haven't even started on this series or the Avalon series, but I am a huge fan of his Lost Years of Merlin series. :D

It's been a week and I forgot some details. *sadface* )

Tuesday I went to see Ryuichi Sakamoto play piano downtown at the Vic. It was the most wonderful concert experience ever! X-Japan was fun b/c it's a rock concert, but this was just simply beautiful. It was just him, a piano and a second player piano for "duets".

This review is entirely too long. )

Yesterday was Scott Westerfeld's book signing promoting Behemoth (sequel to Leviathan). Ok, so he's not really one of the eco-warriors but I still need to mention this.

So of course since it's filled with gorgeous illustrations I flipped through to see what was in store. BAD IDEA. I had to try REALLY REALLY hard not to read ahead. >.< )

Sidenote:
Apparently I have a very generic looking face - keep getting asked "Have we met before?" or "You look just like so-and-so." or "Do you work at such-and-such? I think I saw you there."
(First Jamie at pumpkin carving and then Westerfeld at the book signing yesterday. lol.)

And now I am off for three days of costuming fun! See ya!
